One of the funniest hidden jokes in Madagascar is when Alex reads the newspaper and sees that the New York Knicks have lost again. He immediately lets out a huge roar, which basically works like a censor for whatever he was about to say. The joke is even better when you know that the Knicks were going through a rough era at the time and losing a lot of games, so Alex reacting like a frustrated New Yorker makes perfect sense.
