Customers may engage with many ads from the same advertiser throughout the conversion process. Attribution models help you assign credit to each ad interaction a customer went through before actually converting. These models allow you to better understand your ad's performance and optimize the entire conversion journey.
Typically, the last touch point of a user’s interaction is given most of the credit for conversion when even the first interaction would have significantly pushed the customer in the conversion funnel. This is where attribution modeling comes into the picture.
With Universal Analytics, all our reports are based on the last non-direct click attribution model, by default. It provides an option to choose different models but temporarily within multi-channel funnel reports and reflects on just those reports. On the other side, GA4’s default model is data-driven (I know pretty exciting) but it also provides an enhanced feature where you can change the model from Property Settings. And you guessed it right, the impact will be seen on all the reports. This will ensure deeper and actionable insights since all your conversions and revenue reports will now be based on the model most apt for your business.
In this video, we will take you through the GA4 UI and show how you can change the reporting attribution model in GA4. You can now look at your reports and data in a way it makes more sense for your business.
