Invisible Communities: The State of Native America
Though the atrocities against Native Americans in the United States are vast, the invisibility of the nations is becoming greater. This session at the 2018 Pat Tillman Leadership Summit, powered by the NFL, united Tillman Scholars Jameson Lopez, Lisa Rich and Jonathan Yellowhair for a discussion on how they are working to illuminate issues of invisibility and address the consequences of the “deficit approach” to community building, which prohibits the understanding of Missing and Murdered Indigenous women, treaties, economic development, healthcare access, and educational attainment.
