In IT Chapter Two (2019), the flashback scene where young Bill Denbrough and Beverly Marsh talk happens right after the Losers' Club has a tense argument and temporary falling out following the fight between Bill and Richie.Immediately following the group's split, young Bill rides his bicycle to walk or escort Beverly back to her apartment building in Derry. They talk about the group's future and whether they will remain friends or ever be able to come back together to defeat Pennywise. Beverly expresses deep concern about the group falling apart and worries about what lies ahead, while Bill tries to reassure her before she has to head inside to face her abusive father. Beverly's father forces her to wear her late mother's perfume He treats her as a replacement for his dead wife rather than treating her like his daughter.
[Beverly]
I bet by tomorrow, we’ll all be back together.
Bill [stutters] I don’t think so.
Well, if we’re gonna stop It, we better be.
Bill [stutters] Maybe Richie was right.
Maybe we shouldn’t do anything about It, or maybe we can’t.
[Beverly]
Okay, don’t let them get to you.
Bill [stutters]
It’s a little late for that.
You should go.
Before your dad sees Us.
[Mr. Marsh]
Today is her birthday.
I can still smell her perfume.
And she’d still be alive if it wasn’t for you.
[Beverly]
Mama was sick.
You know that’s why she did what she did.
[Mr. Marsh]
She did what she did because she was embarrassed to be your mother.
You look like her.
But you are nothing like her.
Come here.
[Mr. Marsh][sniffing]
You know that I would never hurt you.
You know that, don’t you?
[Beverly]
[sobbing] I’m sorry.
I’m sorry.
[Mr. Marsh]
You’ll always be my little girl, won’t you?
[Beverly]
Always.
