Food Quality Labels #2 Fruit & Vegetables
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is tasked with guaranteeing the quality of American food. The American Marketing Service (AMS) is a division of USDA that provides for grading, certification and verification of food products. This series will define the labeling we see on our food and share simple recipes to make with quality products. U.S. Grade Standards for vegetables are voluntary and provide the fruit, vegetable and specialty crop industry with a uniform language for describing the quality and condition of commodities in the marketplace. Many U.S. Grade Standards are supplemented by Inspection Instructions.
