Legend has it that a fearful clan of leopards wiped out a Vedda clan several centuries ago in Sri Lanka, near the Kumana region down south. They say the leopards were much larger than normal leopards and were fearless of humans. Did such leopards really exist? Or was it a colorful figment of the local imagination?
