I have been a music producer for 9 years now, but my goal is to eventually move into film scoring. Entering this competition marks my first real step towards making that goal a reality.
Perhaps it isn't the smartest decision to enter an international competition with my first ever piece of music to picture, but life is short.

ABOUT THE SCORE:
I chose to keep things fairly traditional at the start; the show is bright and colourful and I wanted to reflect that with a bold brass line playing a heroic motif.
Later on things get darker and more threatening with a lot of textures and atmospheric layers. The score also transitions away from traditional brass and strings to become much more electronic and sound designy; the big atmospheric hit when Stargirl raises her staff even has a neuro bass layer underneath it which was fun to try and design and implement.
The pacing in the later sections was difficult to work around, with the energy dropping away and then picking back up very quickly. This, however, was a welcome challenge and I enjoyed piecing together the final crescendo.
Hopefully you all enjoy this score and good luck to all of the entrants!
