So with the introduction of Hero 9 Black, GoPro decided to finally give us a front colour LCD screen that is perfect for taking selfies and framing your shot, seeing if you in the frame as it gives us a life preview.
Hero 9 black also has a bigger rear touch screen which gives even more space to preview our vidoes, overall the whole body is slighly bigger but its not cumbersome.
Now Hero 9 Black also has a bigger battery which offers 30 % more battery life, it was inevitable to power up 5K video requirements. It is really helpful as you can record for longer and dont have to have that many batteries with you as it has 1720 mAh power capacity compared to 1220 mAh. Unfortunately all the previous batteries from Hero 5,6,7 and 8 are not gonna be compatible with Hero 9 black.
Due to having a bigger camery body, all the accessories that require you to put the camera in inside such as GoPro protective housing, gopro floaty or sleeve + lanyard are also NOT compatible with Hero 9, however every mount with typical gopro mount is compatible.
Its a really nice addition to have a removable lens cover, as we all know Hero 8 was criticised for its non removable lens. Now with the Hero 9 black its finally removable again so if you scratch it or break it is user replacable, it should cost around 20 $ or so on gopro website.
Since you can remove a lens , GoPro decided to give us MAX Lens MOD which offers extremely wide field of view, allowing to have 360 degrees horizon level, no matter how you move the camera the horizon gonna be perfecly still. GoPro MAX Lens Mod also offers silky smooth MAX HyperSmooth so its even better stabilisation as it has a wider filed of view to crop the image.
