The world is full of sick people.
BBC reporters have just taken down a global ring of animal abuse. Specifically, it was about 400 people, mainly from the United States but also from England and Australia, who paid men in Indonesia to torture and kill monkeys and then send the recordings to a private Telegram group. Clients could even request specific ways they wanted these animals mistreated. The researchers who discovered the case report things as aberrational as baby monkeys being put into blenders.
The existence of animal abuse networks and even worse crimes on Telegram is a well-known fact, but the company has so far refused to implement stricter control measures as, in its words, "it is committed to defending the privacy of its users and freedom of expression”.
Some of the users used names like “Sadista”, “El sr. Primate” or “The King of Torture”. One woman had over 100 different torture videos on her cell phone.
Some of the people who commissioned the torture and murders risk up to seven years in prison, while Ajis Rasjana, the Indonesian who carried out the gruesome assignments, has been sentenced to 8 months in prison.
