Katsuhiro Otomo for Supreme
Supreme x Akira Fall/Winter 2017
AKIRA is a Japanese manga series launched in 1982 and completed in 1990, its author is Katsuhiro Otomo. The events of a work occur in the post-war world a Third world war where Tokyo has been destroyed by nuclear bombardment, and the society filled with anti-government terrorism, drug use and violence.
In the story, Kaneda and Tetsuo are best friends and members of motorcycle gang The Capsules. Tetsuo gets into an accident, after which he gains incredible psychic abilities that causes him to affect Canada and eventually pushing him to madness. The collaboration was created as a representation of creativity Katsuhiro Otomo Western world, and was inspired by post-apocalyptic and dystopian anime and manga that were released earlier.
This fall, Supreme has worked with Katsuhiro Otomo on the collection, for which was used the original image from the anime and manga AKIRA. The collection consists of a Fishtail Parka, Work Jacket, Coveralls, Jacquard Long Sleeve Top, Soccer Top, Hooded Sweatshirts, Zip-Up Hooded Sweatshirt, Short Sleeve T-Shirts, Long Sleeve T-Shirt, 5-Panel Hat, Skateboard Decks, Ceramic Plate and Ceramic Tray.
The collection will be available in stores in new York, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, London, Paris and in the online shop the second of November.
Release in Japan on November 4.
