Difference between algebraic expression and algebraic equation is explained. The primary difference between the two is an equals sign. An equation has a left side, a right side and an equals sign separating the sides. Equations also may have solutions. An expression, by contrast, doesn't have any 'sides'.
What is Algebraic Expression?
In mathematics, an algebraic expression is an expression built up from integer constants, variables, and the algebraic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and exponentiation by an exponent that is a rational number). For example, 3x2 − 2xy + c is an algebraic expression.
What is Algebraic Equation?
An algebraic equation or polynomial equation is an open mathematical statement with "=" sign between two expressions consisting of set of variables, operators and constants.
Example of algebraic equation is given in the video.
Algebraic Expression vs Algebraic Equation:
Three differences between Algebraic expression and algebraic equation are as under:
1)An algebraic equation is made up of algebraic expressions with equality sign between them.
2)Example of algebraic expression is
3x+2x^2-3
Example of Algebraic equation is
2x+3=x^2-4
3) Algebraic expression is to be simplified and algebraic equation is to be solved.
