The blinding burst of light from a nuclear detonation follows, yet it quickly fades into an unexpectedly small mushroom cloud. The recording comes from the 1956 Yuma test conducted during Operation Redwing. The goal of the test was to show the potential of a boosted fusion bomb design meant to fit inside an air-to-air missile.
