10 Mind Tricks To Learn Anything Fast
We are all learning everyday. But some of us wish we could learn faster than we currently can - whether it’s how to play guitar, use new software, raise a child, or poach an egg, the mind is always soaking up new information. If you want to learn anything faster, then these ten tricks will help you:
Meditate
Meditating regularly isn’t just for managing stress, it also improves memory, impulse control, and attention span.
2. Sleep
Often people sacrifice their sleep in favour of more workout, study or other activities. Getting adequate sleep every night is crucial for proper brain function, which makes us assimilate things easily.
3. Drink water
This is a no brainer, but still people get dehydrated often. Reaction times, responsiveness, and overall mental processing improves with hydration.
4. Practice Yoga
If you want to increase your brain’s grey matter, then you should do yoga. Yogis also report fewer cognitive failures, i.e., errors in perception, memory, and motor function.
5. Take up a hobby
It’s important to spend some time each day on activities you love besides work or studying. Not only does the brain need time to take stock of all the learning it’s done, but picking up unrelated hobbies can make you smarter . Try something that requires a lot of concentration and hand-eye coordination: One study found people who took up juggling classes demonstrated an increase in their grey matter . That’s one more reason to never stop learning new things.
6. Laugh
Who knew laughing could improve brain function? Laughing has been shown to help with problem solving and creativity. I guess you should laugh more.
7. Eat right – like dark chocolate
Foods like fish, fruits and vegetables help the brain perform optimally. Yet, what you might not know is that dark chocolate boosts the brain as just as well. Your brain produces dopamine when you eat chocolate, and dopamine helps you learn faster and remember better. Also, chocolate contains flavonoids, antioxidants, which also improves brain functions.
8. Make use of multiple mediums
Do you study the same way every single time? Have you been using flashcards or study guides for every test that you’ve ever taken? If you have, you might need to mix things up. Try using multiple mediums while you study. You could use flashcards, draw a diagram and say the information out loud.
Just by blending styles together, you activate new parts of your brain. You store more detailed sensory information, and you begin understanding concepts from different perspectives. So, don’t fall back on the same old tricks every time. Experiment with multiple mediums to learn more information faster.
9. Workout
Working out doesn’t just bring physical benefits, but also improves learning.
10. Check your motivation
Before leaning anything, ask yourself: “why am I learning this?” You would learn better if the information is useful to you. Learn things that are of interest to you and that gets you excited.
