Dinesh sat down with Joe Bonamassa to discuss how and why the collaboration between Joe Bonamassa, Epiphone, and Gibson came about. For those who don’t already know, Joe has 12 signature models with Gibson and Epiphone, all based on guitars Joe has owned or continues to play to this day.
But how did it come about? In this excerpt from our Joe Bonamassa interview, now on the Gibson Gear Guide, Joe reflects on the origins of his signature models, which all started with a visit to a guitar shop in the UK. After seeing “knock-offs” of classic Les Paul™ guitars, Joe decided to get involved, initiating the creation of the first Epiphone Goldtop limited edition, with a goal to create affordable recreations of some of his most prized guitars, built to the highest standards possible. Shout out to those who have one of those incredible guitars!
From initial conversations in 2013, this partnership has grown tremendously, leading to the production of 12 signature models and over 18,000 guitars.
