Every morning is another chance to recognize the miracle of waking up; to align ourselves with God before the noise of the day takes over. It’s our opportunity to choose meaning before the world tries to choose for us.
The hook of this song was inspired by the first thoughts of the day the ones I think matter most. Personally, some version of thanking God for waking up has been the most beneficial for me. But that alone doesn’t make the day easy. Suffering doesn’t discriminate. No matter who you are, you’re going to face it..but your attitude toward suffering is what can give your life meaning.
The verse was inspired by logotherapy and Viktor Frankl’s book titled Man’s Search for Meaning. Frankl survived the Nazi camps and noticed something wild: people didn’t endure because they were strong… they endured because they had a why. Even when every freedom was taken, one remained… what Frankl called “the last of the human freedoms”: the freedom to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances. He watched people survive the camps not by strength, but by clinging to a meaning beyond the barbed wire. Like a person they loved, a task unfinished, or a faith they refused to let the world crush.
Suffering only becomes unbearable when it has no meaning.
Enjoy my new song, Thank God I Woke Up Today. 🔥🙏
