Peter Goodin: A quick introduction to working with medical images

Non-invasive methods to visualise the human body in spatial and temporal dimensions have revolutionised medical science and diagnostics. But how as data professionals can we work with it? In this talk, I'll cover the basics of medical image analytics. Focusing on magnetic resonance images of the head, we'll cover how the images are represented as data, how to load and manipulate these data and how to visualise them using Python.

Peter is a senior cognitive data scientist with HitIQ and was a stroke neuroimaging research fellow at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. They have over a decade of experience working with people data of all kinds and their current career highlight was running a condom study. They also play guitar. Very badly.
