Edit: I cover this in more detail later in the video but the knife takes almost no damage when slashing which gives it even more of an edge over LB/Space when you end up slashing the enemy before the parry happens. It's a win win. You're knife takes the smallest amount of damage possible while being able to deal physical damage to an enemy instead of taking a larger amount of damage to your knife and dealing no damage to the enemy when parrying with LB/Space.
