How to Install PowerShell 7 on Windows systems.
It is time for the next step in the programming, automation, improved performance and much, much more with Windows PowerShell 7 for Windows clients and Server operating systems. Specially designed for cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, PowerShell 7 is packed with enhancements and lots of new features! Supported OS versions are Windows 8.1, 10 and 11, and all Server versions from 2012 and up. Server 2022 officially not yet, but it works fine. macOS and several Linux distributions are supported as well. In the demo video I install the client in the new Windows 11 way through the built-in win get function. Separate installs are all available, from ZIP, .NET Global Tool, the Windows Store, IoT, to Nano Server, almost every way you want is available. SCCM, GPO, remote SSH and WS Man deployments are supported as well. Lots of new features in PS 7 as well. It is striking that there are a lot of visible improvements when editing code in Visual Studio Code. New cmdlets are also present, this version has some new cmdlets available for SSH connections like -HostName (string); -UserName (string) and the -KeyFilePath (string), but a dozen of new parameters for M365 and exchange online are coming next month. Same for a set of parameters and cmdlets for code lens, but also for AKS Kubernetes. However, if you installed PS7 from the Windows Store you might experience some difficulties as that will be running in a kind of Sandbox. Please keep that in mind. PS7 can run sideways with PS5.1 as the underlaying name executable is different. Personally, I ran in some profile issues later but that might be my mistake as well. It is almost too much to discuss under this small video here.
