The Allman Brothers had that special something when they played in songs like Blue Sky. How did they follow the chords better than others? They added a note! This has become known as the Dickey Betts scale. There's also a minor form of the Hexatonic Scale that players like David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler use as well.
