Our jam with Luke Spiller from The Struts!
Here's a random little story! Just after lockdown, we had the privilege of having a little impromptu jam with Luke Spiller from The Struts.
It wasn't long after things closed down that we started rehearsing again as a band. Luke Spiller and his partner had found themselves stuck in Devon for a time. Having made friends with our own guitarist, Luke happened to be there one evening when we had gotten together for a little jam.
It was a very cool experience for a modest local covers band like us. Luke was a genuinely lovely, down to Earth guy, and a massive massive talent. It was amazing to meet him, let alone jam some tunes (although we were all very out of practice after many months out of the game and playing songs we'd never played before!).
We were reminded of it all having just seen that he performed on stage with Queen and the Foo Fighters at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert last year. All very much heroes of ours!
Anyway, here's a little clip of him singing We Are The Champions by Queen (Forgive the drumming, playing one handed whilst filming). What a voice!
