Before You Replace a Timing Chain, Watch This
Diagnosing a nasty engine noise on my 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis that sounded a LOT worse than it actually was. In this video I go through the process of pinpointing the issue, ruling out rod knock, and tracking it down to failed timing chain tensioners.
I also cover some useful tricks and tips for timing these 4.6 modular engines properly during reassembly. If you’ve got a Panther platform car with a mysterious rattle or knock, this might save you a lot of time — and maybe an engine teardown.
