Engine Valve is One of the key components of an internal combustion engine is the engine valve, there are a few different types of valves and each one works a little differently. In this video, we’re going to take a look at the various types of engine valves and break down how they work.
Poppet Valves:
Poppet valves are most commonly used in internal combustion engines (both gasoline and diesel), especially in the cylinder head, to control the flow of intake air-fuel mixture and exhaust gases. The name "poppet" comes from the old word "popet" (meaning puppet or doll), referring to the valve's up-and-down movement.
Sleeve Valve:
Instead of the typical poppet valves in the cylinder head, sleeve valves use a sleeve that moves around the piston to control gas flow. Poppet valves use rocker arms and springs to open and close valves in the cylinder head, while sleeve valves control gas flow by the movement of the sleeve itself. A sleeve valve consists of one or more movable sleeves that fit between the piston and the cylinder wall.
Rotary Valves:
A rotary valve functions using a rotating disc or cylindrical component with precisely machined openings called ports. This valve rotates in synchronization with the engine's crankshaft. As it turns, the ports align with the intake and exhaust passages at the correct times in the engine cycle.

Reed Valve:
A reed valve is a type of check valve that allows air-fuel mixture to flow in only one direction, commonly used in two-stroke engines to regulate the intake of the air-fuel mixture. It consists of flexible blades that open and close in response to pressure changes.
