Nobody tells teenagers the truth about what's actually happening during this period of their life. Not really. They get rules dressed up as wisdom, vague encouragement, and advice calibrated for a world that no longer exists. What they don't get is the honest version, that the patterns forming right now, the habits, the relationship with difficulty, the stories about who they are and what they're capable of, those are going to travel with them for decades. Most adults are still running software written in their teenage years.
In this video I say what I wish someone had said to me at sixteen. The time illusion that makes these years feel infinite when they're not. What's actually being built right now whether you're paying attention or not. The things that feel important but aren't. The skills that will actually matter. What to do with the embarrassment that's keeping you from trying things. And the most important thing, that you're not waiting to become someone.
You're becoming someone right now, through every choice, every day.
This isn't a lecture. It's the letter I wish I'd received. Direct, honest, and without the condescension of someone who's forgotten what it actually felt like to be in the middle of it. You have time. Real, precious, unrepeatable time. This is about using it.
