I have a particularly big attachment to this hymn - it was the one that started my love for old hymn lyrics! I couldn't read it without thinking how much I wanted to put a tune to it so I could sing it to praise God and sing it with justice. I added the chorus to emphasize what a privilege it is that we can actually join in praising God! Hope it's encouraging for you! This brings Vol. 1 to an end!
Lyrics:
All praise to Him who reigns above
In majesty supreme,
Who gave His Son for man to die,
That He might man redeem!
O, blessed be His name!
O, praise Him Lord of all!
For we who once were dead in sin
Can join in praising Him
His name above all names shall stand,
Exalted more and more,
At God the Father’s own right hand,
Where heaven’s hosts adore.
Redeemer, Saviour, Friend of man
Once ruined by the fall,
God has devised salvation’s plan,
For Jesus died for all.
His name shall be the Counselor,
The mighty Prince of Peace,
Of all earth’s kingdoms’ Conqueror,
Whose reign shall never cease.
All praise to Him who reigns above
In majesty supreme,
Who gave His Son for man to die,
That He might man redeem!
