Lenovo IdeaPad Y410p - MGSV: Ground Zeroes 1080p Performance Test
To you folks who would not have anything less than 1080p in their games (because gaming in 1366 x 768 is sooo 2008), there is good news: Ground Zeroes runs beautifully on a mid-low tier laptop GPU as the GT 750M, and that's with nearly every graphics setting maxed out. It would run like a dream on much better cards. That's how well the game is optimized. Fox Engine also looks magnificent. Have you seen those vehicle tires? They look so good. Very nice first impression, Kojima. Definitely puts other companies, like Ubisoft, to shame. Here's hoping the bigger Phantom Pain game shares the same optimization.
And, yes, the video was recorded in 720p. Sort of. Actually, that's my fault. The game was originally set to 1366 x 768 and merely switched to 1920 x 1080, and I used Shadowplay's "shadow mode" recording function (great concept, really). If you have no idea what it is, this mode allows you to capture gameplay that already happened, for a predetermined duration, as long as Shadowplay is active (e.g. get in-game footage of the last 5 minutes that occurred). Normally, you record from where you want the starting point of your video to be, not take the cue from the end point. Again, cool feature. So, yeah, I set Shadowplay to record the past 20 minutes in "shadow mode" and at the beginning the resolution was set to 1366 x 768, so Shadowplay naturally thought it should be recording in that resolution. Just felt I should explain myself. :)
