On December 7, 1988, an earthquake struck Armenia, covering almost half of the republic. The cities of Spitak, Leninakan, Kirovakan, Stepanavan, and more than 300 other towns were devastated. 25,000 people died, 19,000 were left disabled, and more than half a million were left homeless.
Against the backdrop of this natural disaster, the story of 45-year-old Konstantin Berezhnoy and 20-year-old Robert Melkonyan unfolds. This is not the first time fate has brought them together—many years earlier, Robert's parents were killed in a car accident caused by Berezhnoy. Konstantin spent several years in prison, while little Robert was taken in by relatives. By a strange coincidence, Berezhnoy returns to his family on the day of a terrible earthquake: waiting for him are his wife, daughter, son... and Robert, who has never forgiven him for the death of his parents. They both end up on the same rescue team, but they don't immediately recognize each other.
