Fix DaVinci Resolve Audio/Video Playback Issues on Windows 11 (HEVC Codec Solution)
In this 2-minute tutorial, I show you exactly how to fix DaVinci Resolve when it won't play video or audio from your consumer camera (4.2.0 footage).
The Problem:
DaVinci Resolve imports your clips but the video is black, frozen, or has no sound.
The Fix:
Install the Microsoft HEVC Video Extension as an .Appx package—completely free, no Microsoft Store purchase required.

All thanks to 1nformatica on YouTube. He figured out the solution and shared the GitHub link. I'm simply showing you the steps I followed so you can get back to editing in under 2 minutes.
What you'll need:
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
The file: Microsoft.HEVCVideoExtension_1.0.33242.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe.Appx

Does this convert 4.2.0 to 4.2.2?
No. Your camera records in 4.2.0 chroma subsampling. This fix only allows DaVinci Resolve to read and play those files properly. The footage stays 4.2.0—that's a hardware limitation, not a software one. #DaVinciResolve #HEVC #CodecFix #VideoEditing #Windows11 #DaVinciResolveTutorial #HEVCFix #NoSoundFix #1nformatica
