Sharing tips gathered from Reddit users making the jump to remote work, as well as a few of my own.
No matter whether you're looking to work freelance / be your own boss or looking for a FT job at a company, the best strategy:
set a "freedom" deadline for yourself
make small steps or sub-goals that you can do on a regular basis
participate in an online community ("subreddits" on reddit are a great place for that, such as this one on working remote / workonline ) - you'll pick up tips and meet
like minded folks for inspiration
-find someone you trust (or a community) to keep you accountable and motivated
If you already. have a traditional office job that can be done from the computer the best way is to ask. One reddit user posted their story, copied below:
"My transition was very easy.
Me: "boss, wife has a job opportunity to work closer to her family. We like to explore the option but I'd really like to stay within here. Do you think I could go remote?".
Boss: "I'll have to talk to xyz but I don't see a problem with it"
Me: " *look of shock*, great... Thanks."
My videos cover these digital nomad topics:
managing your money
finding remote work & jobs
staying fit on the road
meeting people & getting dates
crazy travel adventures!
