ZOO-WEE-MAMA! I REANIMATED a scene from Diary of a Wimpy Kid!
Over the past month or so, I have re-imagined a scene from the original Wimpy Kid movie as an animated short more closely resembling the original book's art! This has been something I have wanted to do for a while, and have finally finished it. I've always loved the books growing up, and wanted to create this homage.
I chose to make the graphics resemble paper craft, taking inspiration from the art style of the later Paper Mario games (Color Splash, Origami King), and the art style of the current South Park intro.
I created both the 2D animation, and the 3D kitchen background, trying to give everything an angular "cut-out" feel. I also used a brush that more closely resembled a colored pencil to add onto the aesthetic.
I've always wanted to create a 2D/3D hybrid animation, and absolutely love how everything turned out!
