Kingdom Come Deliverance: failing upwards, fighting brigand, and accidently succeeding.
Quest line hijinks and defense against multiple opponents. I made many mistakes but recovered.
Retreat and circle to avoid being surrounded. Constantly move to allow only one or two men to engage at a time. Focus on the surrounding enemies and parry all cowardly attacks to your flank. Bide your time for an opening and strike the target opponent with quick thrusts or blows to the head.
A comedy of errors during the main quest line All That Glisters sees Henry of Skalitz learning the colors of the counterfeiter's liaison just before catching the man himself in the act of abusing a charcoal burner. After giving chase and failing to catch the German knight, Henry rides to Sasau to ambush him, only to be waylaid by brigands on the road.
During the course of his defense, who should happen upon the melee but the very man Henry sought in Sasau! He is slain, and the quest continues unabated.
