Scottish National Portrait Gallery Re-opens
The Scottish National Portrait Gallery re-opens this week. It's been closed for over 18 months. It's had almost £18m spent on its renovation. It's been transformed from a dark and dusty mausoleum to a light and airy series of open spaces where pictures, portraits and photographs can be shown all in their splendour. The hanging space has been dramatically increased. New interactive technology has been added to enhance the experience. Visitors have the impression of a vibrant, modern gallery where much more of Scotland's collection can go on display.
