This is Omar, photographer, filmmaker and all round awesome human. In this video, he’s going to teach you how to take the dankest portrait photos, with a cheap ass camera and a cheap ass lens – for that perfect Tinder profile.
First and foremost – you need a camera, a lens, and a subject.
You need a backdrop that’s not too distracting – so plain colours work well.
Being outdoors you have to make use of what you have, which means you’re not going to have additional lighting. A lot of people think in order to get good photos you need to go out in a sunny day, but that is not the case. Cloudy days are to be cherished because when you have a cloudy day, you have a defused soft light and soft light is what gives you that beautiful finish on your subject.
In terms of settings, you have your shutter speed, your aperture (which is your f-stop)and your ISO. Omar likes to keep his ISO at 100 just to decrease the grain. Your shutter speed determines how fast your camera takes the picture
Your F stop determines how in focus your subject is as opposed to how blurry the background is. The lower your F stop, the shallower your depth of field is going be, which means the blurrier the background, which is what you want to achieve for that beautiful portrait photo.
And there you have it! Go forth and take beautiful portraits!
