Here we have our dance instructors, Shailey and Matthew, teaching a sequence with the follower's spin going into the leader's spin, and back again.
This social dance is a distillation of several Latin and Afro-Caribbean dances. While the term “Salsa” was coined in New York, the dance itself came from a mix of Són, Cumbia, Guaracha, and Merengue among others. Salsa is especially unique because it varies from place to place and not one style is “correct,” just different!
