Rasmus Højlund: Ten Hag's Young Striker Phenom
According to Laurie Whitwell, "United ave held detailed talks over potential deals for Rasmus Højlund and Randal Kolo Muani. Out of the two, Højlund is seen as the likelier player to join United at this stage."
Rasmus Højlund is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Serie A club Atalanta and the Denmark national team.
Højlund began his career at his hometown club Copenhagen in 2020. During the 2021–22 season, he made his debut in Europe, contributing five goals in the UEFA Europa Conference League across qualification rounds and the tournament proper - he was still in his teens.
In January 2022, Højlund joined Austrian Bundesliga club Sturm Graz for a reported fee of €1.8 million. He scored 12 goals in 21 appearances for Sturm Graz, helping them to finish 3rd and qualify for the Europa League.
It wasn't long until some of the more 'clever' clubs (in terms of signings) took notice.
In August 2022, Højlund signed for Serie A club Atalanta in a deal worth a reported €17 million. He made his Atalanta debut on 11 September 2022, coming on as a substitute in a 2–1 win against Fiorentina.
He would go on to score 9 goals and register 4 assists in his first season in Italy and it was his bright start in serie a which led him to his international debut.
