What does "Disney World for music" look like? Inside Thomann, the world's biggest family music store
70 years ago, a farm in the tiny German village of Treppendorf was converted into a music store. Now, Thomann is the world's biggest mail-order musical instrument retailer, with a remarkable campus that dwarfs its town, with the largest mail-order warehouse in Europe, containing every musical product you could dream of.
To mark the company's 70th anniversary, Guitar.com went behind the scenes at Thomann to discover that despite its size, it remains very much a family company, led by visionary CEO Hans Thomann Jr.
Along the way we also meet the enthusiastic musicians working across the business that help make Thomann a better place for its customers, get an up-close look at the remarkable operation that sees over 100,000 items shipped every day, and learn why Treppendorf really is a theme park for musicians.
