Norgips products as BIM objects, available on the BIMobject® Portal - BIMobject® Talks
This movie showcases the Norgips BIM object solution, in this case ArchiCAD. We start by locating the manufacturer on the BIMobject® Portal at bimobject.com and choosing the products that we would like to start working with. Norgips is available both as an AAT file used for composite wall structures, and as a file for very detailed construction and production models. We are shown how to use the composite wall structure, which is perfect for energy calculations etc. Also, when you make a cut section you will be shown the materials.
The next step is to use the walls in a production and construction model. You can then change a lot of different settings via Design - Design extras - Accessories - Wall Accessories. The object will let you showcase different parts of the object in the 3D view. For example you can choose not to show the plasterboards and instead showcase the insulation inside the wall. Or you can choose to go as far as only showcasing the steel profiles.
You can also change the construction of the wall to make a better solution by changing the settings, and then manipulate the steel profile by moving the hotspots directly in your 3D view and see where the placement would fit the best. One of the advantages of this type of object is that this can generate all drawings of each element. Furthermore, the quantity calculations can easily be made.
