🔥 Custom Tank Simulation on Industrial Touchscreen | Linux + Unity Integration
This video showcases a custom tank simulation developed for Transparent Products, Inc. (Touchpage) — a U.S.-based leader in industrial and military-grade touchscreen technology.
The system runs on Linux and demonstrates a fully custom low-level input pipeline where raw touchscreen and pointer device events are captured at the OS level and streamed into Unity via UNIX sockets. This allows accurate multi-touch handling, precise pointer control, and real-time interaction — even on older integrated graphics hardware.
🚀 Key Features Demonstrated:
• Real-time tank movement using touchscreen joystick
• Multi-touch + pointer input integration on Wayland (Sway)
• Modular damage system (cannon, hull, and independent track health)
• Dynamic target tracking and aiming system
• Custom military-themed UI design
• Reverse & restart functionality
• Optimized lightweight environment for legacy hardware
• Direct display output to custom touchscreen panels
The environment was intentionally kept minimal because this system was designed to run on older machines for demonstration in industrial and defense-related applications.
This project required coordination between:
• Low-level Linux input device handling
• Multithreaded UNIX socket communication
• Real-time Unity integration
• Custom UI/UX design
• Hardware-level touchscreen testing
• Performance optimization for integrated GPUs
