After seeing Cyberdemon531's tyson runs on his stream I thought, "Hey, that looks like fun!" (yes, I'm an idiot) and decided to try it myself. At first it was purely casual, just trying to reach the end of the episode with the help of saves, then trying a full episode run. After a few attempts I noticed I was actually getting close to some of his times on the first couple of maps so I figured, what the hell, lets try and beat that time.
My aim is horrible, I take way too many shots with the pistol to actually kill stuff, so I guess a category where you spend most of your time meleeing monsters is actually a good fit for me.
In two days I managed to complete three runs:
The first one with lots of mistakes and missing enemy scavenges (37:12)
Second one looked much worse, with even more stupid mistakes and an hilarious ending where I jumped off in the wrong direction, but somehow ended up with a faster time (36:24)
And finally this run, where generally everything went pretty good, no major mistakes happened. I'm sure it can be improved by a good margin, but considering I had never tried speedrunning Doom, I'm pretty happy with it.

Almost did a reset on this map because I took way too long to kill enemies with the pistol.

Must have hit every wall on the tunnel leading to the chainsaw, but the lucky barrel explosion actually killing those two enemies made up for some time.

Everything went pretty well.

Seemed like that line of barrels refused to blow up.

Super sloppy start and two nice barrel suicides from the shotgunners at the end.

Fastest red key room I've ever did. Enemy placement in the maze-like area was different than what I was used to, so I had to improvise a bit.

Another shotgunner barrel suicide that would have probably killed me if I hadn't waited. Hate it when I cant leave the secret area next to the blue armor in one door cycle.

A few intentional hits from the barons in order to die quickly at the end (not the last one though). I'm really surprised I managed to make the final jump since I have no reference point whatsoever and my success rate is less than 40%.
As far as I'm aware, this is currently the World Record for this category. - 5th of April, 2015
