Restoring the Duwamish River
Once home to an abundant salmon population and a cultural heritage site for the Duwamish people of Washington state, in 2019, the Green-Duwamish River was named one of the most endangered rivers in the country. The construction of flood protections and levees has altered the river habitat and put the salmon population at risk.
