On trying to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 Pro, this computer kept getting error 0x80070005 and I recommend these methods for fixing it.

Some of them are a bit technical so get a geek or someone to help out if you're not sure as you probably don't want to wreck your machine by doing the wrong thing. Also, I would recommend making sure you have a good backup of all your data before you begin.

Below is a summary of the methods, plus links, numbered starting at 0 (this is computer stuff, after all), but in the order I recommend you try them - from most important or likely to work, to least.

NOTE: there are some important privacy settings to watch out for when you do the upgrade, with teeny-tiny links to the options to take control for yourself. See my video of how a successful upgrade goes for full info, here.

Disable all antivirus and firewalls. Yes, even Microsoft’s.
Reset Windows Update by going to KB 971058 and running the Fixit: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/k... (this gave me a new error: service registration missing 0x800700057);
Run the Windows 10 installer again (presumably through Windows Update).
If that doesn’t work, turn your AV and firewall back on, then follow the instructions at KB 947821 to run DISM or the System Update Readiness Tool https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/k...
Turn off your AV and firewall, then try installing Win10 again.

5 Uninstall .Net framework and reinstall latest full version. I used some removal tool because of problems but you should find that uninstalling all versions via the Control Panel will be enough.

1 Reset registry permissions with SubInACL
