Terence Crawford is an American professional boxer. He has held multiple world championships in three weight classes, from lightweight to welterweight, including the undisputed championship[b] at light welterweight and welterweight. As of May 2024, he holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) (Super version) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight titles.

Terence Crawford is now a four-division champion, but this one wasn’t easy. Crawford earned a unanimous decision victory over Israil Madrimov in a close, hard-fought bout to capture the WBA super welterweight.

Crawford's jab, activity, and a strong push in the championship rounds seemed to secure the fight and a title in a new weight class.

Madrimov was a complex puzzle to solve. Madrimov's movement, sneaky speed, and power were key factors that kept Crawford cautious throughout the fight. His straight right hand found a home during the early and middle rounds, further adding to the challenge. Crawford did enough to nullify Madrimov's momentum with powerful shots to the body and some well-placed uppercuts.

Fighting for the first time as a professional in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, Crawford made his first title defense against 2004 Cuban Olympic gold medalist and former unified featherweight titleholder Yuriorkis Gamboa,

Gamboa won the early rounds using his speed advantage, but Crawford eventually adjusted, knocking Gamboa down once in the fifth round, again in the eighth, and finally twice in the ninth to secure a TKO win in front of an audience of 10,943.

Crawford and the WBA, IBF and WBC welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. came to an agreement on "all material terms" for a title unification, which was expected to take place on November 19. In front of a sold-out crowd of 19,990, Crawford dominated and won the fight by a ninth-round technical knockout and became the first undisputed welterweight champion since 2006 and the first male boxer in the four-belt era to claim undisputed championship status in two weight divisions.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has doubts that the brilliance of Terence Crawford, already a three-weight champ, will transfer to junior middleweight where he challenges WBA boss Israil Madrimov on August 3.

Crawford, 40-0 (31 KOs), is widely considered to be the pound-for-pound best fighter in the sport today. He won his first title down at lightweight against Ricky Burns back in 2014 and since then has gone on to conquer the junior welterweight and welterweight divisions – becoming undisputed in both. Now Crawford, 36, is aiming to win a belt in a fourth division when he takes on Madrimov.
