The Gaps indicator will automatically detect and draw price gaps on your chart. It also offers some customizations that are entirely unique to you. For example you can change the colors of the gaps, fill in gaps, and adjust the size of the gap that you want to detect.
In the world of equity markets, gaps are a common occurrence. This is often because of earnings reports that happen after the market close one day and then impact the market open the next day. Often this leaves a gap on the chart, an empty space whereby no trades took place in-between the two active sessions.
Gaps can be treated as supply, demand, resistance or support. They can also be used for general research and historical perspective on a symbol's trading activity.
While this video mostly covers equity trading and the gaps involved, it also can be used on other symbols and asset classes.
