Nick didn't a minute of his time with the girl who was named Demi. She eventually left, her eyes full of frustration. He sipped at his drink, savoring the burn of the alcohol on his tongue. It was an odd sensation, but at the moment, everything was odd to him. This whole situation was odd. If he hadn't accepted this case, he wouldn't be in this predicament right now. He'd be somewhere else with some other problem that was far less confusing than this one. But then again, he'd be missing out on this special girl..
"Nick?" Mia said, interrupting his thoughts. Nick jerked and realized Mia was nodding to someone over his shoulder. Nick glanced over his shoulder and saw Miley standing timidly in a blouse that hugged her curves. Nick had never noticed how beautiful Miley's smile was.. Maybe it was the alcohol getting to him.
"Hey," Miley smiled, settling into the stool that Demi was once occupying. Nick gave her a head nod, and Miley's eyes drifted down to her hands, which were intertwined due to her nervousness. "How is everything?"
"Fine," Nick managed to say as he was still deep in thought.
"Have you seen Grayson yet?" Miley wondered, her mind struggling to find something to talk about.
"Nope," Nick shook his head, pushing away him empty glass. Mia whisked it away, and Nick refused when she asked if he wanted another one. Mia crossed the bar to serve a few men that had been waiting awhile, their hungry eyes gazing at the women.
Miley didn't bother continuing the conversation; it wasn't going anywhere. Nick was giving crap answers and it wasn't worth her time. What was happening to him?
"I'll go catch up with the girls..." Miley said, looking for an excuse to leave. "See you later."
"Bye," Nick said robotically, not even sparing Miley a glance. Miley stood up, blowing her bangs out of her face as she huffed with frustration. Where was a decent, not-oblivious guy when you needed one?
Nick eventually headed back to his hotel room, his hands deep into his pockets and his mind constantly went over the situation.

Miley woke up the next day, feeling extremely refreshed after a good night's sleep. Taking advantage of the day, Miley got herself ready, hoping to spend a day out with Selena for a change. After waking Selena and having her get ready, the two set off for the town.
"Well, this is nice," Selena smiled, a small satchel slung over her shoulder as the sun bounced off her face. Miley agreed with enthusiasm as the sun warmed her up, hitting her exposed legs and arms in a pleasant way.
"What should we do first?" Miley asked as she glanced around, looking around for shops that suited her taste.
"Some iced coffee sounds good right now," Selena shrugged, her eyes set on the perfect cafe for them to stop at. Selena pointed it out, and Miley nodded her head as she followed her inside. Selena walked up to the bistro and ordered two iced coffees as Miley waited at a table near the glass window. She glanced out the window, smiling at the people that caught her eye as they passed by. Miley almost couldn't believe her eyes when a certain someone walking down the sidewalk.
Luck was on her side, since the very man that had paid for her drink a while back turned into the cafe, fumbling for his wallet and opening the door for a woman at the same time. He stepped inside, and the second he looked up, Miley's ombre locks caught his attention. A smile spread on his face and he sauntered over to Miley.
"Hey," the man said as he got within hearing distance of Miley. "It's Liam, remember?"
"Yeah, I remember," Miley grinned. "Nice meeting you in a coffee shop again."
