"Interesting song that I heard years ago mixed in with Motown material. I'm sure this wasn't recorded at Motown - but this does appear on the Motown/Detroit-related site, "Don't Forget The Motor City." There, is simply has this non-information:

Their version was released on Buddah Records in September of 1967. If I'm seeing it accurately, the writers are listed on the record label as A. Resnick, K. Resnick and J. Levine TM Music Inc.
I'd love to know how this is connected to the Detroit recording scene and made it somehow to a Rock group from Georgia. Rhodes Scholars do an excellent job with the song.
