"The “Predictive Forward Collision Warning” system uses a sensor in the front of the vehicle to analyze the speed and distance to the vehicle directly ahead, as well as a vehicle traveling in front of that one.
The predictive forward collision warning system operates at speeds above approximately 3 miles per hour.
If a risk of a forward collision is detected, the system provides the first warning to the driver by flashing, the vehicle ahead detection indicator with an audible warning.
In addition, the forward emergency braking system pushes the accelerator pedal up. If the driver releases the accelerator pedal, then the system applies partial braking.
If the driver applies the brakes quickly and forcefully after the warning, and the system detects that there is still the possibility of a forward collision, the system automatically increases the braking force.
If a forward collision is imminent and the driver does not take action, the system issues the second, visual and audible warning, and automatically applies harder
braking. If the driver is handling the steering wheel, accelerating or braking the forward emergency braking system may not function.
The automatic braking will cease under the following conditions:
● When the steering wheel is turned as far as necessary to avoid a collision.
● When the accelerator pedal is depressed.
● When there is no longer a vehicle detected ahead.
● If the forward emergency braking system has stopped the vehicle, the vehicle will remain at a standstill for approximately 2 seconds before the brakes are released.
To override the system while driving, if necessary, press the accelerator pedal. When the system detects potential risks, the system gives an alert to encourage
the driver to decelerate in advance, with a signal on the display, audible warning
and also by tightening the seat belt.
The predictive forward emergency warning system turns ON or OFF whenever the forward emergency braking system setting is turned ON or OFF.
To turn the system ON or OFF:
● Press the SETTING button
● Press the DRIVER ASSISTANCE key, and then
● Press the FORWARD EMERGENCY BRAKING key to toggle the system ON or OFF
The warning light illuminates when the system is turned OFF. The forward emergency braking system automatically turns back ON when the engine is restarted.
When the radar sensor picks up interference from another radar source, making it impossible to detect a vehicle ahead, the predictive forward collision warning system automatically turns off. The forward emergency braking system warning light illuminates.
