Hi there! Here's the #1 thing that has been of incredible value to me on LinkedIn, and that's commenting.

I'm Dominic de Souza, Tribe Storyteller. When it comes to building your network and connecting with amazing people, the number one thing that's just been amazing has been leaving comments.

Taking an extra 10 seconds to actually think through what someone's saying, and then leave a follow-up comment that helps perhaps develop the idea, or ask a follow up question. Basically leaving a 'meaningful' comment.

The easy thing obviously is to just 'like' and scroll, like it's a hit and run. But if you can take the time to leave a comment, a couple of things happen.

1) You're reinforcing your connection with that person, especially if they're already in your network.

2) You're investing a little more time in building value for them and their post.

3) It's like a little advertisement for your LinkedIn profile.

If there's one thing that that I've found to be a huge value shift in how I'm using LinkedIn is to recognize that your profile is not a resume. it's a landing page. It's like a mini website. It's a landing page for your services.

And every time you go around and like something, especially if you leave a comment, you're running around leaving little ads for your profile. They are value-based ads. The best kind of
advertising.

Unlike an ad that's simply thrown out there, that someone just paid for to try to grab your attention without earning it. That's (often) not valuable advertising. It's one of the reasons why we dislike so much of it, and we just don't pay attention to it.

But comments?

Comments are huge, no matter the social network - Facebook and Instagram and so on.

But with LinkedIn, take the time to comment and invest your time in building relationships, humanizing your network.

You're demonstrating your edge, how you think about things, the questions and insights that you have to continue developing conversations, etc. You're building meaning. And you're helping people find you.

So, if you don't have a content program (like most of us, we have no idea what to put out), and especially if it's supposed to be each week, not to mention every day, commenting is huge.

Commenting is way to create content that helps everybody.

So if you've had amazing experiences by doing that, I would love to know about them. And I'd love to know your thoughts and any recommendations you have for how to meaningfully engage in other people's content.

Please leave a comment, and if we're not connected, let's go ahead and do that!

I'd love to meet you.
