What guitar should i buy? I'm in the market for a new electric guitar. This time I'm going modern. I want a guitar that can handle High Gain Tones, Drop C Tunings and be a reliable workhorse for my Home Recording Studio. The Ibanez RGD61ALET is a Metal Machine with an Evertune Bridge and Fishman Fluence Modern Pickups. It also has Locking Tuners and a beautifully bevelled RGD body style. All in a mid priced guitar. This is a serious candidate in the shortlist of 3 guitars that also includes the Schecter C1 SLS Elite and the PRS SE Mark Holcomb. My second ever Electric Guitar was an 1986 Ibanez Roadstar II RG440. I still have that guitar. This was the model year that just pre-dated the now famous RG body style, introduced with the RG550 in 1897, that we know today. In my pursuit of a new modern style guitar I thought it might be an opportunity to re-visit my roots to see what a modern Ibanez is all about. Is it the best superstrat guitar under $2000?
