Experiment 1: Electrolysis of Water

Materials:
Two pencils with erasers
A 9V battery
Two alligator clips
A container of water
A small dish of salt
A small glass jar or test tube

Fill the container with water and add a pinch of salt to it.
Place the two pencils side by side in the container with their erasers resting on the rim.
Connect one alligator clip to the positive terminal of the battery and attach it to the eraser of one pencil.
Connect the other alligator clip to the negative terminal of the battery and attach it to the eraser of the other pencil.
Dip the tips of the pencils into the water without letting the erasers touch.
Observe the bubbles forming on the tips of the pencils. The pencil connected to the positive terminal will produce oxygen bubbles while the pencil connected to the negative terminal will produce hydrogen bubbles.
Collect the gas bubbles in the small glass jar or test tube and test them using a flame. Hydrogen gas will ignite with a 'pop' sound, while oxygen gas will support combustion.
Experiment 2: Invisible Ink
Invisible ink is a fun and easy experiment that demonstrates how certain substances can be used to write hidden messages. Here's how to conduct this experiment:
Materials:
Lemon juice
Water
A cotton swab or paintbrush
White paper
A heat source (hair dryer, oven or iron)
Steps:
Mix equal parts of lemon juice and water in a small bowl.
Dip the cotton swab or paintbrush in the mixture and use it to write a message on the white paper. Let it dry completely.
Heat the paper using a hair dryer, oven or iron until the message starts to appear. Be careful not to burn the paper.
The heat causes the acid in the lemon juice to react with the paper, making the message visible.
Note: You can also use other substances like vinegar, baking soda or milk to create invisible ink.
