In 7.39d Ursa continues to be strong despite reductions to his Maul innate ability where the damage is teeny-tiny bit better during laning and way worse in the late-game as Maul no longer has scaling levels. So when building items like Aghs Scepter and Abyssal Blade, items that massively elevate your health, your damage gain from Maul is now less.
Ursa is one of the best carries because a lot of the best Offlaners lose against Ursa during the laning stage. Heroes like Centaur, Legion Commander and Doom all lose to Ursa with a great laning support like Shadow Shaman, Lion or Disruptor when they help set up kills for Ursa to then Fury Swipes the enemy Offlaners down. Combine that kill threat in the lane with the comfort of last-hitting thanks to his Maul innate ability and the hero has probably one of the smooth lanes for Carries right now.
Ursa is also a fantastic response to rivaling carries like Juggernaut where Ursa’s Enrage gives him the ability to eat a large amount of Juggernaut’s Omnislash before shutting him down with Overpower and Skull Basher. Throw in Ursa’s Grudge Bearer facet as an additional reason as he can dish back the massive damage he took from those carries. What’s really annoying is his Aghs Scepter and Aghs Shard give him so much survivability to continously take damage, shake off stuns and debuffs and then go to town on enemies.
Somehow, Nature’s Prophet returns back as a Carry and even with nerfs to his Sprout, he still manages to stay on top as one of the best ranged Carry heroes in Dota 2. In 7.39d, NP's Sprout nerfs were massive and are meant to minimize his lane dominance where the hero would be able to heal himself and a melee support like Undying, with his Saplings facet. They reduced Sprout’s healing and damage but seems like it’s not enough and mainly focused on Support Nature’s Prophet as the healing is significantly less for 5-man teamfights.
Can be drafted: 2, 3, 4 and so that really messes up with immortal players trying to outdraft or think how the enemy line-up is going to play
Slugger being the innate ability means that he can just farm incredibly well with spells that pretty much one-shot creep waves, especially with level 10 talent of fissure damage
With Yasha & Kaya, you can lay down some pretty fast damage that can’t be shut down and you’re getting these items at an incredible rate because Earthshaker farms so fast
Throw in Shard and your level 15 talent and you’re destroying creep waves without even revealing your positioning. So Earthshaker can push waves from the trees and not even be noticed or seen
All of the heroes and items that Leshrac doesn’t like have been nerfed. Queen of Pain does a great job shutting Leshrac down. Dawnbreaker helps counteract the committed nature of Leshrac’s ganks and Blade Mail was nerfed which was used as a good way to punish Leshrac’s Diabolic Edict and Pulse Nova. All of these heroes and items have been nerfed which gives way for what Leshrac is best at: ganking isolated targets and bursting them down with his Diabolic Edict with the Misanthropy facet.
