Глядя на Думскую башню трудно поверить, что она сохранилась в первозданном виде с 18 века! Строили ее по Указу Павла I. Она пятигранная. 48 метров. Стиль – классицизм.
Стоит на углу двух кварталов и соединяет два здания: слева – заседали городские старосты, справа - Серебряные ряды купцов.
Башня – один из символов города, но есть в ней …тайны. Поднимемся по лестнице с раздвоенным маршем…

Вот. И почти никто не замечает. А она есть – загадочная черта! Без каких-либо комментариев, подписей, табличек!
Что это?
А это отметка, до которой поднялась вода в наводнение 1824г. Того самого – описанного Пушкиным в Медном всаднике.
Многие знают о таких отметках в Петропавловке, на Синем мосту, на Ваське.
Но тут? Представляете? Невский на считанные часы стал рекой. Все, все эти люди – были бы под водой. Чтобы попасть домой, надо было нырять в парадные. Подвалы и первые этажи, - все залило. Плавали стулья, кареты, лошади, люди, всплыли гробы из могил!
Теперь вы знаете еще одну тайную метку в Санкт-Петербурге.
